From the desk of Sascha Ballach

I don’t know about you but given that you arrived at this page I assume you do have some bad habbits. Some habbits that hold you back from what you really want to do in life. There are so many things you want to achieve to make your life better, more joyful and worthwhile yet you are lacking something. Something or somebody is holding you back. Is keeping you trapped in your comfortzone.

That bad habbit I am talking about has also another frightening name: routine. I used to live a daily routine and it killed me from the inside. I was dead inside far too long. My life was good. Not outstanding, but it wasn’t bad. I was able to pay my bills and was somehow fine with my work. But at some point I realized there is so much more i wanted from life. Not to be any type of uber-achiever, but i wanted to spice my life up. Everyone in my street including me lived the same way. We had our little lifes and we were okay with them. But everybody was so much alike. Everybody got home from work at the same time, everybody watched the same TV shows, talked about the superbowl, everybody spent most of their time working, spending some time with the family and some time in front of the TV. That’s what my life used to be.

Do you
  • have a regular job?
  • work 9 to 5, 5 days a week?
  • live in a normal house?
  • have not too much debt?
  • are married and everything is okay somehow?
  • have kids and have a normal family life?
  • have a daily routine?
  • go out with the same people everytime?
  • think that your life is…

So you don’t really need to change anything, do you? You are completely content and satisfied? It’s E.R.S. for you – everything’s running smoothly. You just want to live your life and don’t achieve anything new. You don’t feel the urge to move yourself and stretch out for higher goals. Or fun goals. Or for some change?

Why don’t you want to change? Why don’t you want to do something new? Because it is frightening? Or because it would disturb your harmony? Because it is WORK? Because nobody ever challenged you to change your state? Do you want to live your life the way you do now until you retire? Did you plan to do everything that is exiting when you have retired? Why not now? Why settle for less? Why not do a little thing different or a little new thing, starting NOW!

Do you have a DREAM? Do you have a secret wish or goal? Don’t you feel there are things in your life that you just want to accomplish, but didn’t find the time to do so? Things, that you always wanted to do. Things that are right beneath your surface and want to break free but you didn’t let them just now?

Are you

  • frustrated with your lifestyle?
  • not worshipped enough by friends, colleagues, your partner?
  • getting home from work only to find that your energy gets drained?
  • eager to do sports but when the time comes something is holding you back?
  • making new years resolutions but they just don’t work for you?
  • sick of the constant nagging of friends who don’t know what you’re going through?
  • ready to get rid of your old life and impress your friends, your spouse and most importantly – yourself?

Since you arrived at this page and read till that point you have to ask yourself: is your life just comfy or is it boring? There is a very thin line and most people don’t get that. They lie to themselves by saying ‘yeah, others have pretty lame lifes, but mine is above average. My life isn’t boring at all.’ – but is it really not that ordinary?

I don’t know you so I cannot (and will not) judge you. But let me tell you – if you want to excel at anything or have at least an interesting life – you cannot be average or just a little above average. There is nothing wrong with living a comfortable life – i enjoy that too. What I don’t do is stay the same or let comfort hinder me from living an interesting, joyful life with lots of new experiences and bucketloads of fun.

I love comfort if it makes my life easier and I don’t think anyone will oppose that. But when comfort makes life just boring it’s time to change that. You do not need to change radically to have a wonderful life with more things than you can now think of. All you need is to be willing to read on and make the necessary steps. A little down this letter I have outlined WHY you want to get out of your personal comfortzone. Please read on and I promise you will find something interesting.

If you don’t see the urge to change anything about your life right now, that’s okay. I know how you feel because I’ve been there myself. I know the pain. I know how you want to do something, how you want to get rid of an old routine that has done nothing for you other than holding you back from an exciting and joyful life. I know how it is and I hated it and I hated myself for not changing and making some small steps. I knew it would be easy, just a few small steps, executed on a regular basis. But I didn’t act. So let me tell you one thing that should stick to your brain once and for all:

We have literally been trained to live regular lifes. Everybody is doing it. Most likely our parents lived a normal life and told us to get a good job, work hard, marry and enjoy two weeks of holidays every year. And to rest on the evenings, take your time with the kids, how much or less that time might be. They taught us as role models what to do in our free time, how to behave, what to do on weekends and so on.

And most likely everybody in your neighbourhood and everyone you know is doing the same thing. You all are living basically the same life. It’s just that the name on your mailbox is different but you could exchange your life with that of one of your friends and everything would stay the same. I know that’s not true for everybody who is reading this page, but for some people it will.

Maybe you go out each week two or three times. And whom do you meet with? The exact same guys, over and over again. And you do the same things time and time again. You even talk about the same things like last time you met. Don’t you agree? There is a lot of redundance in our daily lifes. Doesn’t matter if you live in the big city or in a small town. Things like that are universal. And everybody is looking up to the ‘stars’. But the solution is somewhere else.

You see it’s not your fault that you live the way you do. We have been taught to live our lifes in a certain way. We are but kettle or puppets working our routine and we think we are okay with it.

I give you 12 reasons to leave your comfortzone

  • #1 A more exiting life
Now this is ovious.  By doing new things on a constant basis (like I teach you in the book) that challenge you, your thinking, your know-ledge, your appearence, your fears and doubts and your idea of what life should be like you will have a more exiting life. This brings us to #2
  • #2 You become an interesting person
In my numerous encounters with other people I can see that it is quite interesting for others to experience a lot of different things. I get con-stantly asked about the time when I was houserunning, skydiving, flying in a jet fighter or  about my travels. Even the different kinds of books I read are always an interesting conversation piece. I tend to have an interesting topic to talk about with other people all the time. Which leads us to #3.
  • #3 You get to know a lot of people and will become friends with them
Some of the exercises in the comfortzonebook require to meet new people. Sometimes it is the sole purpose, sometimes it happens as a byproduct. Whatever the case you will get to know new and different people and by doing the things described in the book you will live an interesting life and have something to talk about with those new people. You will get to know a lot of them and some of them will even become close friends. And maybe even lovers.
  • #4 Your general knowledge will expand
Given that you follow the approach in the book you will learn a lot of new things you didn’t really expect at first. Also when talking with different people you will get to know their point of view, see the world through their eyes and learn a lot of really unique things. One of the tasks in the comfortzonebook is for example to buy a magazine each week regarding a topic that you never dealt with and had little or no interest in. Why? To explore something new and to gain mental flexibility. Something most people lack but is essential in modern society. Just imagine what you will learn in a year if you do that and how your knowledge will expand.
  • #5 You will make a lot of experiences
This is pretty much self-explanatory, so let’s move on to the next point.
  • #6 You will stay physically and mentally fit
Right now I’m reading a book (The Brain that changes itself) that describes how human beings stay mentally fit even at a very high age. Basically you need to feed your brain with new and interesting things to stay mentally fit and prevent things like the Alzheimer disease.
  • #7 You’ll get to know your fears (and conquer them)
Some of the tasks inside the comfortzonebook will confront you with some basic fears and with some very personal fears. If you try to notice what you feel before and during this exercise you will get to know your pattern when you are fearful. How you behave in stressful situations and how to change that. Most of the times we don’t even know where our fears come from. When you exercise the way I describe in the book, you will learn to conquer basic human fears and use that knowledge and experience to see the pattern of your other fears – and break it. Thus making you a person free of fear (see next point).
  • #8 You’ll get rid of fear
Fear is your worst counselor. Never ever make decisions out of fear. Knowing your fear and conquering them will help you in numerous ways. When I stood up to get rid of my fear of heights and finally got over it my life improved in numerous ways. Some of these improvements weren’t even related to my fear of heights, but most of the times some things inside our bodies and brains are interconnected and change when we change. That happened to me and it will happen to you. Just start with smaller fears and doubts and move your way up. And while you resolve smaller problems the bigger ones get smaller as well. It really works!
  • #9 You’ll gain more confidence
By working on yourself, conquering fear, spending time with new people, reading and learning new things your confidence will grow automatically. And confidence comes with benefits, trust me my friend.
  • #10 You’ll improve your charisma
By learning and getting a more open worldview, talking to new people and working on your approaches, having more confidence and so on your charisma will rise. You will develop an aura that makes you irresistible.
  • #11 You will gain more mental flexibility
With every new experience you make you will gain more mental flexibility. You’ll have more options to react in situations and in problem solving. You can see possibilites that weren’t available before. In NLP we say the one with the most options at hand wins. You are now not bound anymore to a certain job, duty, customer, place or anything else. The world is yours. You decide what to do, when to do it, how and with whom to do it.
  • #12 You’ll be teaching your intuition
The biggest hindrance for your intuition to get through to you is fear. If you live a fearful life your intuition can’t reach you, because fear is blocking it from you. Fear gives you excuses. Fear will lead you away from what is possible for you. The more you get rid of fear the more you will be able to listen to your intuition. And the more you act on your intuition the more it will bring into your life. Some of the tasks in the book will get you into situations that you are not familiar with and you can only act on your intuition – and you will see that you can indeed react and everything will work out just fine and you will be amazed at what you can already do. Trust me, I’ve been there, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to write those exercises and write to you with all this knowledge in mind. It is a great journey and it is worth it.

Introducing: the Comfortzone Book

Let me tell you a little about how this book was created:

This book works with a whole new method in personal development. Other than so many self-help-books out there, this book follows a different approach of less theory and more practice. Nobody has changed through only reading a book, but through applying the acquired knowledge and making the experiences that come with doing so. This book doesn‘t only give you the necessary knowledge, but also a lot of practical exercises that will help you to develop your personality and to realize and extend your potential.

In the past years the expansion of the Comfort Zone has proven to be a very effective way to push one‘s personal development, to confront oneself with one‘s fears, and to gain more self confidence and a confident appearance. In addition to that, the exercises train your flexibility in dealing with diverse situations that can occur in your life. A situation is always determined by the person with the highest flexibility.

If you only want to read about personal development, then this book is not for you. However, if you really want to do something for yourself and your personal development, then this book is perfect for you. Follow the exercises and in the shortest time you will feel and see yourself and your life changing.

Very shortly there will be a Comfortzone App available. This App is for Iphone and Android with many more exercises. In the last months and years I collected a lot of different exercises for various areas of your life and I will put them all into this App.
